FEDERICO MARTINI CROTTI

Intricate abstract art resembling flowing hair or feathers in black and white.

MAY 30 - JUNE 27 2026, ARTIST RECEPTION MAY 30

Working with ink or pencil on paper, Argentinian artist Federico Martini Crotti draws in abstract visions in repetitious patterns derived from observing nature. With exhilaration for the very act of drawing, subconscious thoughts emerge in the uncontrolled rolling ballpoint pen, resulting in the feeling of three-dimensional fantastical biomes.

Federico, b. 1969 in Buenos Aires, studied painting with Jorge Simes in the mid-80’s and graduated from RISD with a BFA in Film in 1991. In 92’ his film “Win a Night with Sammy” won best narrative short at the Athens International Film Festival, launching him into producing and directing for the Argentine television and multimedia conglomerate America. After his film “Fiber Optics/Revolution” won awards in New York in the mid 90’s, he founded his own company, GranCosa Producciones. In 2004, a retrospective of his shorts was screened at the renown MALBA museum in BA, as well as his documentary feature film “Poet of the Guarán” (2005) declared of National Cultural Interest in Argentina, also being shown at the National Library in Buenos Aires and in the Mar del Plata film festival.

In 2007 he began Tatacuá, a sustainable rural project of bioconstruction in Rocha, Uruguay where he raised two daughters. Federico is currently living in rural Atlantic Uruguay, editing a film, painting and drawing while experimenting in bioconstruction with arches, clay and green roofs to improve sustainable, natural housing.
